CSCO Strategic Plan 2024–2027

Building on nearly four decades of ministry, CSCO’s strategic plan charts a course for the next chapter of Catholic school chaplaincy in Ontario.

Strategic Priority 1: Professional Excellence

Strengthen the professional identity and competency of Chaplaincy Leaders through robust professional development, mentorship, and peer learning opportunities. Goal: offer at least two PD events annually and publish a renewed competency framework.

Strategic Priority 2: Advocacy & Visibility

Amplify the voice of CSCO in the Catholic education sector. Build stronger relationships with OCSTA, ACBO, and the Ministry of Education to ensure chaplaincy’s role is recognized, protected, and resourced in Ontario Catholic schools.

Strategic Priority 3: Member Engagement

Increase member participation and grow the CSCO community. Modernize communications, launch a digital member hub, and increase conference attendance by 20% over the plan period.

Strategic Priority 4: Equity, Diversity & Inclusion

Ensure chaplaincy ministry reflects and serves the full diversity of the Ontario Catholic school community. Develop resources and training to support chaplains in addressing racism, LGBTQ2S+ pastoral care, and Indigenous reconciliation within the Catholic framework.

Strategic Priority 5: Partnerships

Deepen existing partnerships with CCC, EOCCC, ICE, and Dev&Peace while pursuing new relationships that strengthen Catholic school chaplaincy. Establish a formal MOU with at least two partner organizations.
